To prevent the harmful effects of climate change, Atmabiswas Souro Shakti Limited (ASSL) has long been working on relief and adaptation programs to reduce the negative impact of carbon emissions. Meanwhile, the United Nations Climate Change Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference was organized with world leaders of 195 countries including Bangladesh on Climate Change issues. The conference called on all countries of the world to make a global commitment to reduce carbon emissions. In this regard, the Government of Bangladesh agreed to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in 2015 and the contracting countries are aiming to prevent global warming processes under the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) or nationally determined regular contribution to various activities, including mitigation until 2030 which provides specific promise to reduce emissions. Bangladesh promises to reduce carbon emissions by 5% by 2030 and 15% less by international assistance.
According to this commitment of Government of Bangladesh, ASSL is also working to achieve the objectives through working with renewable energy issues like Solar Systems, Biogas Plant, Improved Cook Stoves (ICS), Biomass Pellet fuel and etc. which are supported by Infrastructure Development Company Ltd. (IDCOL). Now ASSL entered into new area of energy saving sector called own improved cook stoves & biomass pellet fuel. The goal is to modify the current stove is to make them fuel efficient through biomass pellet fuel in line with the objectives are; to replace the traditional harmful cooking stoves, to reduce the in-door air pollution, to improve the kitchen environment for supporting the mother and child health, to protect de-forestation through improving the fuel efficiency of cooking stove by using biomass pellet fuel, to reduce the Green House effect. Meanwhile the main features of our own improved cook stoves and biomass pellet are; fuel saving, reduce the smoke and thus protect the in-door environment, thermally efficient so the temperature of the kitchen remain comparatively low.
